Navajo Name: Nazlini (Bend In The Water Flow)

Nazlini Chapter

Nazlini made use of the Chinle valley, including the Nazlini area, long before the "Long Walk" and imprisonment in Ft. Sumner, New Mexico. They had plantation in the canyon and used the streams for irrigation year round.

Many people in the early days, after the Ft. Sumner experience, were farmers and ranchers; and later railroad and sawmill workers. The community had appointed leaders at that time, who worked and made plans or farming and livestock activities with the traders.

The Nazlini Chapter conducts monthly meetings to keep residents informed; residents have a forum to express their opinions to their Navajo Nation Council Delegate or to decide on matters concerning their chapter.

Upcoming Chapter Meetings:

  • April 06, 2008 @ 1:00 PM - Chapter Meeting
